Yes, World Label is a real label business but they are also into the free printables business, which I love, they have tags and labels and all kinds of wonderful printables on their site!

They provide free, public domain/out-of-copyright images for you to print or download. Most of the images are vintage naturalist or scientific illustration, but there are loads of other images, too!

This website is full of free images for non-commercial use but they are mostly newer images. However there are great images to use as backgrounds for your altered art in my opinion.

This is actually a free e-book site but some of these books contain some pretty cool images. Finding images does require a bit of searching and can be a long process but I have found some great images on this site, so I am going to share a few instead of just one to show you it is worth it to search.
